Privacy policy
What is collected, who collects it, and how to control it — including the third-party analytics and advertising services that run on this site.
Independent guide: we are not the Redfield manufacturer and cannot process orders, registrations or warranty claims. Shopping links go to Amazon, and as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. Full disclosure.
Last updated: this policy is reviewed periodically. Check the date shown in the footer for the current year of publication.
Who we are
This policy covers the website at redfieldusa.com, an independent publisher of guides to sport optics. Contact for any privacy matter: privacy@redfieldusa.com.
What we collect
We do not ask you to create an account and we do not sell products directly, so we collect very little ourselves. What is collected falls into three groups.
Information you give us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you put in the message. We use it to reply and nothing else. We do not add you to a mailing list.
Information collected automatically
Standard web server and analytics data: pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, referring site, browser and device type, and time of visit. This is used to understand which guides are useful and to keep the site working.
Information collected by third parties
Several third-party services operate on this site and collect data under their own policies:
| Service | Purpose | Typically collects |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft Clarity | Understanding how pages are used | Page interactions, scrolling, clicks, session recordings and heatmaps |
| Google AdSense | Displaying advertising | Cookies and identifiers used for ad serving, frequency capping and measurement |
| Amazon Associates | Attributing referred purchases | A tracking identifier appended to outbound links, plus Amazon's own cookies once you arrive |
| Google Fonts | Serving typefaces | Your IP address, as part of the font request |
We do not control these services and cannot see the raw data they hold about you. Please read their own privacy policies for the complete picture.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site uses them for analytics, for advertising, and for one functional purpose: remembering that you dismissed the shopping bar at the bottom of the page, so it does not reappear during your visit. That last one is stored in your browser's session storage and is deleted when you close the tab.
Third-party advertising partners, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising by Google through Google's Ads Settings, and out of third-party vendor cookies through the industry opt-out pages operated by the Digital Advertising Alliance and the Network Advertising Initiative. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may behave differently as a result.
Legal bases and your rights
Where the UK or EU General Data Protection Regulation applies, we rely on legitimate interests for basic analytics and site security, on consent for advertising and non-essential cookies, and on legitimate interests for responding to messages you send us.
You have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to ask for it to be corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent at any time, and to receive a copy in a portable format. Write to privacy@redfieldusa.com and we will respond within the period required by law. You may also complain to your national supervisory authority.
California residents
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act you may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected, request deletion, and opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information. Some advertising cookie activity may be treated as "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law; you can opt out using the browser and industry controls described above, or by contacting us. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
Children
This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.
Data retention
Email correspondence is kept only as long as needed to deal with the matter and any reasonable follow-up. Analytics data is retained according to each provider's default retention period.
Security
This site is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we take reasonable measures we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send sensitive personal or financial information by email.
External links
Our pages link to third-party websites, including retailers and manufacturers. We are not responsible for their content, their security or their privacy practices. Once you leave this site, their policies govern.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the services we use or in the law. Material changes will be reflected on this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
