Accessibility

We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Here is what is built in, where the gaps are, and how to tell us when something does not work.

Independent guide: we are not the Redfield manufacturer and cannot process orders, registrations or warranty claims. Shopping links go to Amazon, and as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. Full disclosure.

Our aim

We want this site to be usable by everyone, including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or reduced-motion settings. We target the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as our working standard.

What we have built in

  • Keyboard navigation. Every interactive element can be reached and operated with a keyboard, and focus is always visibly indicated.
  • A skip link. The first thing a keyboard user reaches on every page is a link that jumps straight past the navigation to the main content.
  • Semantic structure. Real headings in a logical order, real lists, real tables with header cells and captions, and landmark regions so assistive technology can navigate the page.
  • Colour contrast. Body text and interface elements are set to meet or exceed the AA contrast ratios against their backgrounds.
  • Reduced motion. If your system is set to reduce motion, the reticle animation and all transitions are switched off.
  • Text that scales. The layout reflows without loss of content or function when text is enlarged or the window is narrowed to a phone width.
  • No content locked behind hover. Anything revealed on hover is also reachable by keyboard and touch.
  • No blocking interstitials. The shopping notice is a dismissible bar at the bottom of the page, not a modal that traps focus or covers the content.

Known limitations

Third-party advertising is served into this site by external networks. We do not control the markup of those adverts and cannot guarantee they meet the same standard as the rest of the page. Where we are able to influence ad placement and behaviour, we do.

Tell us if something does not work

Accessibility problems are bugs and we would like to fix them. If you hit a barrier — a control you cannot reach, text you cannot read, a table that does not make sense to your screen reader — please email hello@redfieldusa.com with the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser and assistive technology you were using. That last detail makes it far easier to reproduce.

We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within a few working days and to fix confirmed issues as quickly as we practically can.

Ongoing work

Accessibility is not a one-off task. We review the site as we add pages, and this statement is updated when the picture changes.
