About us
An independent guide to Redfield sport optics. Not the manufacturer, not affiliated with the trademark owner, and clear about how it pays for itself.
Independent guide: we are not the Redfield manufacturer and cannot process orders, registrations or warranty claims. Shopping links go to Amazon, and as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. Full disclosure.
Plainly
What this site is
redfieldusa.com is an independent guide to Redfield sport optics. We explain what riflescopes, red dot sights, spotting scopes, rangefinders and mounts actually do, what their specifications mean once you get past the marketing, and how the Redfield name has moved between four owners since 1909.
We are not the manufacturer. We are not affiliated with Academy Sports + Outdoors, with Leupold & Stevens, or with any other current or former owner of the Redfield trademark. We do not build, sell, ship, service or warrant any product.
Why it exists
Optics buying is unusually badly served online. Specifications are printed without context, headline numbers are chosen because they sound impressive rather than because they matter, and a great deal of what circulates about the Redfield brand is simply out of date — sites still list warranty contacts for a company that sold the brand years ago.
The aim here is narrow and useful: give someone enough understanding to walk into a shop, or open a listing, and evaluate it themselves.
How we pay for it
Through affiliate commissions and display advertising. If you follow one of our shopping links to Amazon and buy something, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. That is the entire business model, and it is set out in full on our affiliate disclosure page.
What that arrangement does not do is decide what we write. We describe categories and specifications rather than steering readers to whichever product pays best, and where the honest answer is "you probably do not need this", we say so.
Our editorial principles
- Accuracy over enthusiasm. Where sources conflict or records are thin — as they are for parts of the Redfield ownership history — we say so on the page rather than picking whichever version reads better.
- No invented authority. We do not claim to speak for a manufacturer, operate a support line, or hold credentials we do not have.
- Corrections welcome. If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it. Documentation beats opinion.
- Safety is not optional. Nothing on this site replaces the instructions supplied with your firearm and optic, or the rules of safe gun handling.
What we do not do
We do not take orders, process returns, register products, handle warranty claims, arrange repairs, or run a telephone support line. If you need any of those things, the warranty and support page points you to the companies that can actually help.
Questions, corrections and suggestions for what to cover next are all welcome via the contact page.
